The most famous mountain in Abtenau - the Karkogel - is every year the holding
place of national and international ski racing competitions und provides you with
multiple lift facilities offering 6 seats chairlifts and 8 seats
cabins.
There is also a 3 km well-lit winter toboggan run, a floodlit cross-country slope
in Nordic Centre and a ski test centre sponsored by Atomic.
The slopes from Sonnleiten that lead direct to the centre of the town are considered to be very good for 'Learn to Ski'.
